Seledonio Gonzales Jr.

May 3, 1957 — May 13, 2026

Seledonio “Sel” Gonzales, Jr., age 68, passed away on May 13, 2026 in Boise, Idaho.

Born on June 3, 1957, in Weiser, Idaho, Sel was the beloved son of the late Seledonio Gonzales Sr. and Teresa Figueroa Gonzales.

As a young boy, Sel enjoyed hanging out and socializing with his friends, and as a young man, Sel enjoyed driving around Weiser with friends in his light blue Ford Gran Torino. That was a happy time for him. Sel graduated from Weiser High School in 1976.

Sel attended Boise State University for two years before embarking on a meaningful career dedicated to serving others. He spent several years working with the Idaho Migrant Council in Payette, Idaho, where he contributed to supporting migrant communities. Later, he joined the State of Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting impact until his retirement.

Sel was known for his easygoing nature and love for life’s simple joys. He found happiness in fishing trips, competitive games of darts, his friends, and doting on his cherished cat. Above all else, Sel treasured time spent with his family. His warmth and sociable spirit made him a joy to be around for those who knew him.

Sel was a dutiful son to Seledonio and Teresa, whom he loved deeply, and also a dutiful, loving, and beloved brother.

He is survived by his younger brother John Gonzales; his younger sister Maria Wheeler; and two nieces, Christina and Samantha. Sel was preceded in death by his parents, Seledonio and Teresa Gonzales.

Sel’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his legacy of kindness and devotion bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held on June 5, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Thomason Funeral Home Chapel, 221 East Court Street. It will be followed by a funeral service that will start at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, 215 E. Indianhead Road, Weiser, Idaho.
