Wesley Michael Barton

Wesley Michael Barton was born at 2:53 pm on December 11th, 2007, in Templeton, California and went to walk with Jesus at 9:50 pm on July 10th, 2026 in Fruitland, Idaho. Wes was diagnosed at age six and a half with two forms of Muscular Dystrophy in Dushane’s and Beckers Muscular Dystrophy. He was told then that he was the first recorded case in the United States to have both forms of Muscular Dystrophy.

While in the early stages after his diagnosis Wesley still was able to play soccer and baseball. He enjoyed riding both his horses that were given to him to ride in Chester and Chief. He seemed and acted like he was as normal as his family and friends early on living in Paso Robles, California.

After he moved to Midvale, Idaho in August of 2018, the opportunities for him to flourish were everywhere, despite being in his wheelchair he began to flourish. He went on many adventures with his Uncle John Whitener and family hunting mule deer and grouse. Wes enjoyed fishing most of all and every opportunity he had to do so both locally, around the state, and in Alaska through Make a Wish. He was able to hunt both mule deer and antelope in both Idaho and Nevada on special wheelchair hunts that the generosity with the Nevada Outdoorsman in Wheelchairs and the Cody Louke Dream Keep Foundation.

He was a Midvale FFA officer and earned his FFA State degree while showing lambs and a goat in California and Idaho 4-H and FFA. Wes was a part of the National Honors Society and was a huddle leader for the FCA of Midvale for 2 years and an Award was named in his honor prior to his passing for leading people to Jesus and spreading the Gospel.

Wesley was given that opportunity to work at Sutherland Diesel in Midvale, Idaho and enjoyed working there on Friday’s during school and the summer months. He enjoyed working on trucks and seeing them at full potential. Wes may not have been physically able to work on them, but he could hear and see things during diagnosis that the team and him could work together to help serve the customers.

He is survived by his Father E. Ryan Barton, Mother Heather Barton, and Brother Blake Barton. He was a grandchild, great grandchild, nephew, cousin and touched the heart of his friends and so many in the community. But most of all he was a lover of Christ and is probably working on a diesel pickup with Jesus today.

The memorial for Wesley Barton will be on August 8th, 2026, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Cambridge, Idaho at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asked if you would send donations to either the Midvale Church of Christ or one of the organizations he was a part of.
