Betty Jean Hanvey

Betty Jean Hanvey, 91, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was born on April 14, 1935, in Greenville, South Carolina, to Frank H. Robertson and Bettie Jean Springfield.

Betty is survived by her sons, Mike Hanvey and Steve Hanvey; her grandchildren, Dana Cottrell and Justin Hanvey (children of Samuel T. Hanvey Jr.), Corey Hanvey and Brittany Cole (children of Mike Hanvey), and Christopher Hanvey (son of Theresa A. Hanvey); and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Cottrell, Ethan Cottrell, Cannon Cottrell, Braiden Cottrell, Caleb Cole, Olivia Hanvey, Zane Hanvey,

Brantley Hanvey, and Kylie Hanvey; and her great-great-grandchild, Callaway Barton.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Thomas Hanvey Sr., a retired U.S. Army veteran who served during the World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars; her son, Samuel Thomas Hanvey Jr.; her daughter, Theresa Ann Hanvey; and her grandson, Samuel Thomas Hanvey, III.
