Bok Yun

Bok Yun, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born in South Korea, Bok built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and caring for others. She was married to Suk Yun for 62 years and was a longtime member of Korean Community Presbyterian Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Family was at the heart of everything Bok did. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and concern for others. For many years, Bok owned and operated a restaurant, where her love of cooking became an important part of her life. She especially enjoyed preparing food for family and friends and bringing people together through the meals she made. A breast cancer survivor, Bok faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination. She also enjoyed gardening and knitting, taking pleasure in creating things with her hands and caring for the things she grew.

She is survived by her husband, Suk Yun; her daughter, Shin Yun; her son-in-law, Jong Lee; and her grandchildren, Abbey Lee, Emily Lee, and Joshua Lee.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina. A memorial service celebrating Bok’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace. The love she gave will remain with them always.
