Brenda Kay Outlaw

In loving memory of Brenda Kay Outlaw passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her cherished family, on September 18, 2026. Born on September 7, 1954, in Columbia, South Carolina, Brenda was a spirited and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. The daughter of the late Marjorie Jackson Chavis and Alvin Chandler Chavis Sr., she was a beacon of strength and love to her family and friends.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Burton Chavis; her sister, Becky Bairefoot; and her beloved son, Roy Bairefoot. She is survived by her devoted children, Brian and Jennifer Bairefoot, and her siblings, Alvin Chavis Jr., Karen Borden, and Annette Evans. Brenda was also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Crystal, Teressia, and Haylie Gladden, Brian Bairefoot Jr., and Mya Miller, and the adoring great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren.

Brenda's life was filled with simple joys and deep passions. She loved to play cards and color, finding beauty in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments. Her Sundays were reserved for dusting—a task she performed with religious dedication. Brenda also found solace and happiness in the great outdoors, often enjoying tranquil moments spent on her front porch.

Known for her quick wit and headstrong nature, Brenda was a woman of remarkable independence. She was never shy about expressing her thoughts and opinions, a quality that endeared her to many. A lover of games, she cherished the playful moments shared with Jeff and her grandbabies, where laughter was always in abundance.

Brenda's life was a testament to resilience and courage. She bravely overcame countless challenges, embodying the heart of a warrior. Her willingness to help family and friends knew no bounds, and her big heart left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

A service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held on September 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, located at 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nurses at UNC REX and the compassionate hospice team at Amedysis for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brenda's memory to a charity of choice. Brenda's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
