Fredna Prince

Fredna Prince died peacefully at her residence on May 20, 2026. She was born on October 30, 1927 to Jessie and Dessie Simpson in Iva, SC and was raised in a large and loving family.

Fredna graduated from Iva High School. After high school she worked at Duke Power in Anderson, SC. Once married she was a housewife and stay at home mom. She volunteered in a dental office, worked as a school secretary, a teaching assistant, and worked in a dentist office, as well as several other jobs. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, where she was a regular at Women to Women meetings. She was in the Officers wives club at Ft Lee, VA. She followed her husband’s military career and lived in Germany, Ft Bragg, NC, and Ft Lee, VA.

Fredna and Ray met in high school and were married for 53 years.

She is survived by sons, William A. Prince, Phillip Prince (Laura); daughter, Kathy Lassiter (Bobby); nine grandchildren, Raymond Prince, Brandon Prince, Matt Lassiter (Danielle), Andy Lassiter (Rebecca), Joshua Prince (Amber), Jordan Prince (Kate) Jacob Prince (Jenna), Hannah Morphis (Spencer), and Mary Martha Prince; 14 great grandchildren, Roman ,Hallie, Jonah, Sam, Benjy, Will, Ruthie, Judah, Elliott, Shepard, Lydia, Nolan, Miles, and Leyton; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ltc. William R. Prince; her parents, Jessie and Dessie Simpson; brothers, Harold Simpson, J. W Simpson, Jr., Thurman Simpson, Drewry Simpson, Grady Simpson; sisters, Ann Amelia, Mildred, and Kathleen.

The family would like to thank her caregivers and Willow Grove Senior Living who made her last two years so comfortable. She loved the Lord and is now eternally with him.

Funeral services for Fredna are June 5, 2026 at Thompson Funeral Home, located at 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC 29209, with visitation at Noon followed by the service at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
