Gary Lee Fannin

Gary Lee Fannin, 79, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and devoted much of his life to serving his country and his family. 

Gary proudly served in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. His dedication, strength, and commitment to service were qualities that he carried throughout his life. 

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Suk Cha Fannin of 60 years. He leaves behind his children, Eric Fannin, wife Mandy and Thomas Fannin, wife Amanda. 

He was a proud grandfather to Ayden Penso (Simon), Tyler, Sophie, James (Paige), Ethan (Bella), and Emory (fiancé Garland). 

He was blessed to be a great grandfather to Charlotte 2 years and Elliott 3 months. 

His family was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy, and his love for them will continue to live on through the generations. 

Gary is also survived by his siblings, Dorothy Kleinline and Mike Fannin. 

Gary will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a proud Army veteran. His life was defined by service, family, and the lasting love he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Funeral services for Gary Lee Fannin will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Leesburg Road at 10:00 a.m, Wednesday, August 19th. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Gary's life, celebrate his memory, and offer their love and support to his family.
