Matthew James Ashton Corder

Matthew James Ashton Corder, age 25, of Lugoff, South Carolina, went home to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 15, 2026.

Born on January 4, 2001 in Columbia, he was the cherished son of Jamie Anna Weller and Robert Weller. Matt grew up in the Lugoff community, where his bright smile, infectious laughter, and generous spirit made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School in 2019 and was working as a car salesman with Lugoff Toyota. 

Matt lived life with an adventurous spirit. He loved spending his free time playing with his son, fishing, playing video games, doing magic tricks, writing poetry and songs and working out. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and close friends. His loyalty to those he loved was unmatched, and his memory will live on through the countless stories of his shenanigans and humor. 

He is survived by his loving parents, Jamie Anna Weller and Robert Weller; his brother, William Weller; his son, Carter Bailey; his grandparents, Cheryl and James Rogers; and grandmother, Ok Weller; his cherished friend, Morgan Bailey and a large circle of great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Corder and grandfather, Henry R. Weller, Jr. 

A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
