Ruth Evelyn Brazier Rossiter

Ruth Evelyn "Skeeter" Brazier Rossiter, 70, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on July 29, 2026.

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Skeeter was the daughter of the late Clifford and Docia Brazier. She was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1974, earning her diploma on May 29th. Skeeter spent years working alongside her father at the South Carolina State Farmer's Market. She later built a career as a skilled fiberglass worker, employed by several boat manufacturing companies across South Carolina and in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Skeeter called Columbia home for most of her life, briefly relocating to Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 1995 before returning home to Columbia in 2009. She deeply loved her family and was cherished by everyone who knew her. Known for her quick wit and unique sense of humor, she will always be remembered for jokingly declaring that "her best friend was Little Debbie," as well as for her lifelong love of corn. Above all, Skeeter was the backbone of her family during hard times. She was a devoted mother to her three children and found her greatest joy in being a grandmother to her three grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Allen Brazier and Docie Mae Blizzard Brazier; her children, Steven Randy Rossiter and Jennifer Ryan Rossiter; her brothers, Russell Leroy Brazier and Albert Ray Brazier; her maternal grandparents, Albert and Lucille Blizzard; and her paternal grandparents, Olice and Carrie Kansas Brazier.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Marie Rossiter; her three beloved grandsons, Jeremy, Ethan, and Mason Rossiter; her brothers, Frank Allen Brazier of Columbia, and Randolph James Brazier (Patrice) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her sisters, Dolores Dupree of Lugoff, and Sandra K. Belger (Dell) of Columbia; her aunts, Sandra Parker (Paul) of Lexington, Phyllis Elaine Blizzard of Columbia and Uncle Benjamin Lee Bledsoe Jr of Columbia, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, located at 845 Leesburg Road in Columbia, South Carolina.  Flowers may be sent directly to Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park in her honor.
