Stephany Houston

Stephany J. Houston, a devoted nurse, beloved sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 21, 1945, in Covington, KY. Stephany was the daughter of Harold and Jean Houston, who predeceased her.

Stephany was a proud graduate of Boone County High School in Florence, KY. She went on to pursue her nursing degree at St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing Program in Covington, KY. She later would receive her Master's Degree in Nursing at Spalding University in Louisville, KY.

Stephany answered the call to serve her country as a nurse. Her dedication to the care and well-being of others was exemplified through her service in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1971, and later in the United States Army from 1978 to 1982, achieving the rank of Captain in both. Stephany's military career was marked by her unwavering commitment to her fellow service members and her country.

Following her military service, Stephany dedicated her life to the field of Oncology. Her expert knowledge and caring nature brought comfort and healing to countless patients and their families.

Stephany was an active member of Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, KY, where she spent several years as the organist and sang in the choir.

Stephany had a special fondness for cats and found delight in their companionship. Her home was always a sanctuary for her feline friends who brought her endless joy and comfort.

Stephany is survived by her sisters, Julie Duncan and Andrea Anderson (Scott), several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her good friends Anna Roberts and James Cherry.

The family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers a donation to Shandon-Wood Animal Hospital, Columbia, SC, which was close to her heart.

It was Stephany's wish her life be celebrated in a private family gathering at a later time in KY.
