Anita T. Comeau

Anita Theresa Comeau (Thibodeau), 77, of Columbia, SC passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026 in the loving embrace of her husband and surrounded by her family. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on October 16, 1948, a daughter of the late Ronaldo and Aurore (Dubois) Thibodeau. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph “Al” Comeau of Columbia, SC; her sons, Joe “Joey” Comeau and wife Amy of Lexington, SC, Jim “Jimmy” Comeau and wife Carol of Lexington, SC, and Randy Comeau and wife Tracy of North Port, FLHer beloved grandchildren, Michael Comeau, Cody Comeau, Sabrina “Beana” Chesbrough-Comeau and wife Faith, Phoenix Mathieu, Andrea “Andie” Comeau, Alexina “Ali” Comeau and her husband Karson, Justin Comeau, Madeline “Maddie” Comeau, and Steven Comeau. She was a treasured auntie to several nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her siblings Joe Thibodeau, Pauline Kozloski, Bob Thibodeau and Ann Lincoln.

Anita worked as an EMT for many years, became a CPR instructor, and pursued a fulfilling career in phlebotomy. She also enjoyed volunteering and spending time with the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary. Some of her favorite pastimes included spending time at the beach, playing bingo with dear friends, and being surrounded by cherished family. She particularly enjoyed filling her home with the stories, love, and laughter brought by family and friends during holidays and family reunions.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, South Carolina is directing arrangements.
