Barbara Joan Derrick

Barbara Joan Derrick, 77, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. 

Barbara (Barb) was born in August of 1948, in Vancouver, Washington, to the late Joan Carlisle and Thomas Carlisle. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. 

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Billy Derrick, her daughter Shannon (Sebastian) Avila, her grandchildren; Sebastian Jr., Sean and Ian of Lexington; her brothers, Johnny Carlisle of California and David Carlisle of Parkriver, ND; her sisters, Diane Christi of Newport Beach, Calif., and Patricia McComb (Tim) of Escondido, Calif. Also a brother-in-law Sam Derrick and his wife Barbara Derrick of West Columbia. 

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, and brother-in-law Don Christy and Sister-in-law Noreen Derrick. 

Barbara was a courageous person and always had a positive attitude, bravely enduring adversities most of her life, she did it without complaining and maintained a natural sweetness about her. 

We are all very proud of having had her in our life. 

She enjoyed watching TV shows like The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, The Food Network Shows, and the Andy Griffith Show. They were indicative of her sweet character. 

She believed strongly in her faith and was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington South Carolina. There were many parishioners that welcomed her and were long term good friends, we greatly appreciate them for that. 

Barbara's greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts; her husband, daughter, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11 from 10:15 AM to 10:50 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 2350 Augusta HWY. Lexington, S.C. 

A reception will follow in the fellowship building shortly after the service.
