Clyde "Thomas" Rister, Jr.

Clyde "Thomas" Rister, Jr., 64, of Lexington, SC, passed away on July 28, 2026. Thomas was born in Columbia, SC on January 24, 1962 to the late Clyde Thomas Rister and the late Lynda Northcutt Rister.

He was a graduate of Airport High School, class of 1980. Thomas worked at Michelin Tire Corporation for many years. In his youth, Thomas was a North Carolina/South Carolina State Champion in Motocross racing. His love for speed grew to include fast cars and motorcycles. Later he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends.

Most recently, one of his greatest joys was feeding the wildlife that frequented his yard and oftentimes, he would rescue injured animals to get them care. He truly had a love for all of God's creatures.

Thomas is survived by the love of his life, Mandy, his wife and devoted partner of 42 years.

He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Beeler Evans, his brother-in-law, Charles (Sheila) Gatch, his niece Deana (Rhyman) Lyons and his nephew Andrew Gatch, great-nieces Bella Velina, Mady Dixon, Charlee Lyons and Maci Lyons. Thomas was always known as Uncle Thomas to many children of close friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, his Grandpap and Granny, brother Chad Rister and his aunt Judy Ott and Aunt Jeannie Chavis.

Thomas loved the Lord and will be remembered for having a joyful and giving heart. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Carolina Wildlife Center or any local animal shelter.

Services will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, SC, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 4PM with a visitation with family held one hour prior. A burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gaston, SC.
