Daniel W. Allen III

Daniel Webster Allen III, age 62, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly at Lexington Medical Center on September 22, 2026.

Danny was born in Horry County, SC to Daniel W. Allen Jr and Maude B. Allen. He attended Myrtle Beach High School and Midlands Technical College. Danny always maintained a strong connection to his hometown of Myrtle Beach and the countless family and friends he had there.

Most of Danny’s professional career was spent in retail, where he was always a kind and helpful presence to everyone he encountered. He was a valued employee of the Chef Store in Columbia for many years, after previously working for Best Buy in Lexington. Danny also worked in the restaurant industry in Myrtle Beach for several years, which is how he met the love of his life, Elizabeth!

Danny’s many passions in life included the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Rams, and music of nearly all genres. His favorite job was working and managing Sounds Familiar in Columbia where he could be surrounded by music, musicians and others who had a love for music. He was a true music connoisseur, as a gifted musician himself and an avid listener - with an album and CD collection to rival any.

But of course, Danny’s biggest passion in life was reserved for Elizabeth, Reese, Jacob, and Haisley Rae. He loved his family dearly, was devoted to them beyond measure, and experienced his greatest joy from sharing life with them.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Lynne McDonald Allen, his beloved sons, Reese and Jacob, and his cherished granddaughter, Haisley Rae. Additional survivors include his sisters, Toni A. Moore (Dan) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Rebecca A. Donevant (Steve) of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother-in-law Joan B. McDonald of Blackville SC; sister-in-law Teresa Robin McDonald Howell (Lamar) of Conway, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Gatherings for Danny’s family and friends will be held at later dates in Lexington and Myrtle Beach.
