Edward Felix Martel
Dec 11, 1956 — Oct 26, 2026
Edward Felix Martel, 69, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2026.
Born on December 11, 1956, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the late Romuald and Nettie (Hutchins) Martel, Edward lived a life marked by generosity, humor, and an endless appetite for new experiences. He was the kind of person everyone adored—a true family man who quietly did so much for so many people. He never had an excuse. If you needed him, he was there. Smart, funny, and always ready for adventure, he approached life with a spirit that made those around him joke that he was aging backwards.
Edward proudly served in the United States Air Force. It was while stationed on a military base in North Dakota that he met the love of his life, Ramona. The two were married on December 20, 1978, and together they built a family that remained the center of his world.
He spent much of his career as an IT specialist with WearGuard before later owning and operating two UPS stores.
Edward is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Ramona; their children, Amber Pullin and her husband Carl, Anthony Martel and his wife Kimberly, and Kimberly Harris and her husband Jordan; his grandchildren, Alexis Lloyd and her husband Lucas, Derek Robert Jr., Conor Martel and his wife Kristin, Lilly Martel, Benjamin Bernard, Jack Bernard, Claire Bernard, Avarey Martel, Barbara Martel, Fiona Martel, and Emma Harris; his great-grandchildren, Aria and Asher Lloyd; and his siblings, Joseph Leo Martel, Madeline M. Woodworth, Antoinette Parsons, Juanita M. Cook, and Henry R. Martel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Romuald and Nettie Martel, and by his siblings Albert Martel and Elizabeth A. Brennan.
Edward loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with his whole heart. He was a proud member of Kittiwake Baptist Church in Lexington, South Carolina. He enjoyed Bible study and building ramps with Emmanuwheel. He was also very active in local politics and served on the Lexington County GOP. His many hobbies—always seeming to include a new one—reflected a curious, engaged mind and a joyful approach to living. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and the example of a life fully and generously lived.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Kittiwake Baptist Church in Lexington, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew Edward simply share a story, a smile, or a small act of kindness in his memory—just as he so often did for others.
