Ginny Sue Sweezy

Mar 5, 1951 — Aug 2, 2026

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, Ginny Sue Bowden Sweezy — a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend — passed away at the age of 75.

Ginny was born on March 5, 1951, in Cayce, South Carolina. She graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and soon began her most cherished role as the mother of her two sons, Chris and Mark. When life changed course, Ginny and her boys began a new chapter together. She went on to build a 35-year career with the South Carolina Farm Bureau, where she became a trusted, valued, and beloved member of the team until her retirement.

On October 3, 1980, Ginny married Steve Sweezy, and the family of three became four — whole again. Together, Ginny and Steve created a home filled with unwavering love, stability, and joy. Their sons grew up knowing they were always loved, wanted, and safe, no matter what life brought their way.

Ginny had a passion for many things, but her family and faith were always at the center of her life. She was a loyal daughter, sister, and friend who instinctively put others’ needs before her own. She loved family trips to the beach, animals, walks with friends, singing loudly while making breakfast, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and creating moments that made ordinary days feel special. She gave generously of her time and resources to causes close to her heart, including her church, Transfiguration Lutheran, and Harvest Hope.

Her favorite downtime activities — besides being present for every event her boys participated in — included watching soap operas and Lifetime movies, doting on her pets, and making the best deviled eggs her family insists have ever existed. She hosted every family gathering and was the glue that held everyone together. Her loved ones were blessed to share their lives with someone so caring, selfless, funny, and steadfast — someone who showed up in both the brightest and darkest moments. Ginny possessed that rare gift of putting others first, always. She was a blessing to her family and to everyone who knew her.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Steve. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Kerri Hainer Stack) and Steven Mark (Renee Lund); her grandchildren Nicholas, Hayley, Chloe, and Zoe; her siblings Angie, Durwood, and Charles; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ginny Sue Bowden Sweezy will be held on Friday, August 7th at 1PM at Trinity Baptist Church with a visitation 1 hour prior and a burial immediately following the service.
