Larry Kent Fisher

Larry Kent Fisher, 87, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with him.

Born on September 1, 1939, in Union, South Carolina, Larry was the son of the late Chester and Louise Fisher. He grew up learning the value of hard work and the family trade, spending many years working alongside his father as a metalworker at C.L. Fisher Iron Works. Those years were more than simply a livelihood for Larry; they reflected the strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and family ties that remained important throughout his life.

Larry was a simple man at heart who found happiness in the things he loved most. He had a special appreciation for the outdoors, and few things brought him greater peace than spending time with a fishing pole in his hand. Stumphole Landing on Lake Marion was one of his favorite places—a place where he could enjoy the water, the quiet, and the simple pleasure of a good day of fishing.

He also had a tender heart for animals and dearly loved his pets. Among them, his faithful retriever, Sandy, held an especially treasured place in his heart. Larry was also incredibly proud of his Plymouth Valiant, a car that became one of those familiar things family and friends naturally came to associate with him.

Larry’s life was not defined by extravagance, but by the things that truly mattered to him—family, honest work, familiar places, beloved pets, and the quiet pleasures that make a life meaningful. Those who knew him will remember him in their own special way: working with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, talking about his car, or simply being Larry.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Louise Fisher; his brothers, Maxie D. Fisher and William C. Fisher; his sister-in-law, Frances F. Fisher; and his nephew, Peter L. Fisher.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister-in-law, Betty S. Fisher; his nephews, Michael Fisher (Erin) and Jeffery Fisher (Chrissy); along with numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, extended family members, and friends.

The family extends a heartfelt and very special expression of gratitude to Mr. Elbert and Mrs. Christina Pearson. Your love, friendship, kindness, and devoted care for Larry over the years meant more than words can adequately express. The comfort and companionship you gave him will always be remembered with sincere appreciation.

Larry will be laid to rest at Westside Baptist Church Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, South Carolina, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Although Larry’s earthly journey has ended, the memories he leaves behind will remain—memories of a hardworking man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures, loved the outdoors, treasured his family and pets, and lived life in his own quiet way.

Rest peacefully, Larry. May the waters always be calm, the fish always be biting, and may those who loved you find comfort in knowing that a life well lived is never truly forgotten.
