Lucky George Ellison

Jun 7, 1952 — Jul 27, 2026

Lucky George Ellison, 74, went home July 27, 2026. Lucky was the youngest son of the late George M. and Frankie Mae Ellison, and was married to Carolyn Ryan Ellison for 50 years.

In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Lucky is survived by his brother Billy Gene Ellison (Jean), brothers-in-law Billy Ryan (Eleanor) and Johnny Ryan (Gibie), and many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Lucky is predeceased by brothers Menden Ellison, Mack Sturkie, sister Bettie James, and sister-in-law Ann Williams.

He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1971, where he took four years of auto body. He would go on to Midland Tech and receive a degree in auto. He worked as a body shop manager for 12 years. Lucky owned his own company, Columbia PDA, where he was an adjuster for 17 years. Traveling from shop to shop across the Columbia area, he would meet many people. Because of his infectious personality, he would acquire many friends - everyone, especially in the auto world, knew Lucky.

Lucky was a member of Revival Baptist Church where he was a faithful servant and had many roles. He was always willing to help wherever he could whether within or outside the church. He was loved and respected by the congregation.

Lucky was vocal in his love for Jesus, his wife, family and friends. He was loved in return.

Lucky was so named because he almost died at birth. His mom said he was lucky to be alive, hence his name. However, for all who knew and loved him, would argue that we were the lucky ones.

The family mourns the loss of this man who made us laugh, made our lives a little brighter. He will be missed greatly. But we rejoice that he now resides with our Lord.

Visitation will be held at Revival Baptist Church, 1165 Old Barnwell Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM with the service at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the service, the burial will take place at the church cemetery.
