Roberta McCain

Roberta Jennings McCain was born in Columbia, SC on December 24, 1927 to William Arthur McCain and Carrie Boland McCain.

MS McCain graduated from Columbia High School in 1944 and immediately began her career at the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Columbia. Beginning November 1948, she joined the staff of U.S. Senator Olin D. Johnston. After 16 years with Senator Johnston, she began working as secretary to United States District Judge Robert W. Hemphill, retiring in 1980.

MS McCain is predeceased by brothers George Edward McCain (Beverly) of West Columbia, Marshall E. McCain (Corine) of Columbia, William A. McCain, Jr, John C. McCain (Lillian), Dorothy McCain Franklin (Gaddis), and Margaret McCain Joy (Billy). She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church in Winnsboro, S.C.
