Warren Rivers Barnes, Jr.

January 29, 1954 — May 15, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Warren Rivers Barnes, Jr., 72, on May 15, 2026. He was known by many nicknames; Bobby/Bob, T.B., Doc, but the one that brought him the most happiness for the last 19 years was PawPaw.

Bob was a good ole low country boy born in Hampton County to the late Warren Rivers Barnes, Sr. and Barbra Erline (Shaw) Barnes. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He worked his adult life at Wateree Power Plant for SCE&G and Dominion Energy, retiring after over 40 years. There is where he was fondly known as “Doc” as he knew a little something about everything. Bob loved his family and friends, Ford vehicles, Gamecock football and cakes, especially birthday cakes and Aunt Debbie’s pound cake.

Bob was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Ann Gleaton Barnes and proud father to his two daughters, Kimberly Barnes Anderson (Jason) and Leigh Ann Barnes Bristow (Jeremy). Also surviving are his sister, Linda Barnes Ouellette (Rob); father-in-law, Otis Richard Gleaton; 7 adored grandchildren; a beloved pet, Pudding; as well as many other extended family members.

Cremation has taken place and the family plans to hold a celebration of life event, which will be announced at a later date.

“You may be gone from our sight, but will forever remain in our hearts”

“A loving father, tender and kind, what a beautiful memory you left behind.”

Memorials or donations may be made to Crocketville Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 158, Hampton, SC 29924 in order to maintain his familial burial site.
