Elizabeth Ann Zachmann
Oct 7, 1947 — Oct 7, 2026
Elizabeth Ann Zachmann passed away October 7,2026 after a long illness and extended hospital stay. Passing on her birthday, she was 79.
The Daughter of Anthony and Irene Secone, she grew up in Haverstraw, NY, the eldest of 5 children with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She lived in Rockland County most of her life.
"Betty" or "Betty Ann" as she was known, was very socially involved in the community and made many friends along the way. She often heard the comment, "Is there anyone around here you don't know!?" She served as President of the Wayne Hose Ladies Auxiliary from 1996 to 1998. Later she joined a Red Hats club in Stony Point and became a member of the Columbiettes at the Knights of Columbus in Haverstraw. She was a member of the 42 Club of Haverstraw and the Lady Elks 877. Most recently, she served as Vice President then as President of the Haverstraw Seniors for 2 years until 2025. She welcomed several new members and coordinated trips, lunches and events. Betty enjoyed organizing and attending fund raisers with her clubs. She also loved to join her friends at Bingo.
She is survived by her husband Michael Zachmann of Stony Point; her sister Joyce Rooney of New City; her son Donald Farley and wife Maureen of Monroe NY; her daughter Jodi Hernandez and husband Hector Lopez of Clearwater FL. Betty adored her 4 grandchildren, Henry Hernandez, Ryan Farley, Nevaeh Lopez, and Danny Farley and her 4 great grandchildren Jaylyn, Mikey, Cameron and Alexis as well as several nieces and nephews.
Betty was a big fan of the movie "The Wizard of Oz" and enjoyed a large collection of memorabilia. Her life reflected the movie in her big "Heart" she shared with everyone she met, the "Courage" she showed taking on new challenges and with her health problems, and with the "Brains" she demonstrated in her leadership and organization. Betty truly believed "There is No Place Like Home".
