Eugene “Gene” Frank Bronico

Mar 13, 1940 — Oct 26, 2026

Eugene (Gene) Frank Bronico, 86, of Haverstraw, New York, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Gene was born on March 13, 1940, at Nyack Hospital to Frank and Mary (Gioia) Bronico. He graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1958 and proudly served two years in the United States Army. Shortly after, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Schuler, on October 16, 1960.

Gene was a dedicated worker and a devoted family man. He spent his life working as a mechanic, and in 1967, he purchased Augie’s Auto Electric in Nanuet, New York, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Outside of work, Gene enjoyed the simple things in life, especially watching the New York Giants every Sunday and gathering with his family for Sunday dinner. These traditions brought him great joy and created many cherished memories with the people he loved most.

Gene was also a lifetime member of the Haverstraw Elks and the American Legion, organizations he remained connected to throughout his life.

Gene was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Nicole Marie Lavelle.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol, and his loving children, Donna Amengual, Marybeth (Jack) Lavelle, Lisa (Andy) Backman, and Eugene Bronico Jr.; and his siblings, Frank (Flavia) Bronico and Diane Bronico.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Michelle (Phil), Jacqueline (Tyler), Christina (Lou), Emily, A.J., James, Julia, and Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Anthony, Adriana, Olivia, CJ, Juliana, TJ, Isabella, Emma, and Lauren.

Gene will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, other dear relatives, and friends who were an important part of his life.

Gene will be remembered as a hardworking man who devoted himself to his family and treasured the time they spent together. His love, dedication, and the memories made around the Sunday dinner table and on family vacations will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family will receive friends at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923, on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
