Reynaldo De La Peña
Jan 14, 1949 — Aug 10, 2026
Reynaldo De La Peña, 77, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in La Paz, Bolivia, Rey came to America with determination and a dream, and through years of hard work and sacrifice built a life and family he was deeply proud of. A skilled handyman who could fix just about anything, he approached his work and his life the same way: honestly, steadily, and without complaint. Rey was a man of few words and a big heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Quiet by nature, he had a sharp wit that could catch you off guard — a perfectly timed joke, a dry bit of sarcasm, a smile that told you he'd been holding that joke in for a while. His coworkers at Helen Hayes Hospital, where he worked for many years, knew that side of him well. He loved the heat of a summer day and time spent near the water. A diehard Mets fan, he could be found cheering on his favorite teams, shouting answers at game shows, or settled in for a western or a good comedy — the Post and a crossword never far away. He was a lover of all animals, but his cats and dog were family! Rey was also a wonderful cook, and nothing made him happier than family gathered around a table he'd prepared. Christmas was his season; he delighted in choosing gifts for his family. He loved a good shopping spree at Macy’s. Generosity was his love language, even when words weren't. Above all, Rey was a family man. He is survived by his daughters Doreen (Brad) and Amanda (Daniel), his sons Louis and Robert (Lisa), and his beloved grandchildren Felix, Viviana and Guliana, all of whom carry forward his humor, his work ethic, and his devotion to one another. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
