In Loving Memory of Ryan O’Shea

January 29, 2005 – October 16, 2026

Ryan O’Shea, 21, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2026, following a tragic accident.

Ryan was born on January 29, 2005, to Dennis O’Shea and Kellie McGuire. He grew up in Stony Point, New York, alongside his beloved sisters, Kiera and Katherine O’Shea. He was a 2023 graduate of North Rockland High School, where he was a member of the varsity hockey and golf teams.

At the time of his passing, Ryan was a senior at the University of New Haven, majoring in criminal justice with a concentration in police science. He had dreamed of joining the New York City Police Department after graduating this spring and was fortunate to have the opportunity to intern with the NYPD this past summer.

Ryan had an infectious smile and an easygoing nature that made everyone around him feel comfortable. He loved playing and watching sports, but hockey was always his number one passion. He was incredibly proud to be a Charger and the senior captain of the University of New Haven club hockey team. His teammates meant the world to him, and he cherished the special bond they shared. Ryan was always there for his teammates, offering his support, energy, and friendship.

Ryan was also president of his fraternity, Kappa Sigma, where he enjoyed recruiting new students and welcoming them into the brotherhood. He was full of energy, always willing to lend a hand, and never hesitated to jump in wherever he was needed. His warmth, leadership, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Dennis O’Shea and Kellie McGuire (Jason Hernandez); his sisters, Kiera and Katherine O’Shea; his aunts and uncles, Erin and William Maye, Terence and Sueann McGuire, Lorraine and William Willsea, Maureen O’Shea, and Audrey and Michael Mangan; his cousins, Danny and Michael McGuire and John and Jonah Mangan; and his loving girlfriend, Alexis Hartz.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Laura O’Shea and John and Diane O’Donnell.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, New York.

Ryan, you were a huge presence in so many lives, and you are loved beyond words. Your smile, your kindness, your laughter, and the love you gave so freely will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew you. We are heartbroken that you did not get the chance to live out your dreams and all the wonderful things your future held.

You will forever be our sweet boy. You will be missed more than words can ever express and loved for all eternity.

Rest in peace, sweet boy. Until we meet again.

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
