In Loving Memory of Stanley “Skip” Leath

Stanley “Skip” Leath, a devoted family man, Navy veteran, and avid sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy defined by his deep love for his family and his zest for life.

Born on January 4, 1942, to Murial and Harold Leath, Skip lived a life marked by service, hard work, and a wide array of passions. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, he dedicated his career to his work in New York City.

Beyond his professional life, Skip gave generously of his time to his community, notably dedicating 17 years as a coach for the Haverstraw Little League Association, where he mentored and shaped the lives of many young athletes.

Upon his retirement, he sought a quieter pace of life, moving from Rockland County (27 yrs) to North Carolina where he could fully enjoy his love for the outdoors. Skip was a man who truly embraced his retirement. He was an avid golfer who spent countless hours on the course, and he found great joy in the friendly competition of horseshoes and bocce. Whether he was catching a hockey game, immersing himself in a classic Western film, or settling in for a heartfelt Hallmark movie, Skip lived life on his own terms and found happiness in the simple things.

Above all, Skip’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Marianne (née) McGinty, and a pillar of strength for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by:

His loving wife of 61 years: Marianne

His children: Tara Conforti (Chris), Koren Leath, and Sean Leath (Danielle)

His beloved grandchildren: Eddie, Talia, Sean, Gabriella, Matthew, Logan, and Isabella

His cherished great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, GiaBella, Kassidy, and Tyler

His brother: Kevin Leath

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephew.

Skip has been reunited in heaven with his beloved grandson, Kevin, his parents, his brother Courtney, his sister Carol, all of whom preceded him in death.

Skip will be remembered for his warm spirit, his dedication to his community and youth sports, and the unwavering love he showed to those lucky enough to call him husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Service:

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory and pay their respects with his cremains present during visiting hours on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at T. J. McGowan Sons Funeral Homes, located at 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923.
