Carl "Chip" Oglesby Fincher, III

Carl Oglesby Fincher lll “Chip” lived an extraordinary life. He embodied all of the best qualities of being the patriarch of the family. He was the first call whenever his daughters, son, and wife needed help. “Alright, be careful, love you, call me later” is a quintessential Chip saying that the family remembers fondly and repeats in his memory and honor. He will always be their protector.

Chip and Carol have been together since they were fifteen years old, high school sweethearts. Their undying love for each other has been a constant throughout the lives of all that knew him. We remember fondly the stories they would share about dating as teenagers, their first home together, their babies, and the beautiful life they flourished within.

Chip lived an amazing life known as a family man, and the appliance specialist. He took great pride in his work and achieved amazing success, year after year as the number one salesman. Yet, despite all his greatness and success he was the most humble, kind, genuine man. He was honored with a lifetime achievement award from his loyal company Queen City HomeStore.

Chip was born January 21st 1964, and was a proud born and raised “Charlottean”. He attended Garinger High School and graduated in 1982. He was a huge sports fan and a NASCAR fanatic. He fought tirelessly and fearlessly for himself but most importantly for his family. He battled brain cancer for over six and a half years without a complaint, or pity. He was truly a fighter, our Superman.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol Hazelton Fincher, daughters Rebekah Fincher Oelkers (Matthew) and Julia Fincher Cox (Matthew) and son Philip Carl Fincher (Carli). His grandchildren Caroline, Jamison, Wyatt, and Vivian. His siblings Pamela Fincher Dover and Candy Fincher Neely along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl Oglesby Fincher II and Doris Jamison Fincher.

He left this world surrounded by those he loved most. As he lived for his family, he died with the comfort of their presence. He will be missed everyday. His smile that would light up the room, his calming peacekeeping voice, and his sense of humor that always kept us laughing will forever be embedded in our hearts. His unwavering faith in God, dedication to his family, strength and resilience, and kind, innocent, nature is what we will remember. He is now joined with our Lord and Savior, his heavenly family, and is at peace. Please continue praying for his family during this difficult time.

The celebration of life will take place on Sunday, September 6th starting with the burial service beginning at 1pm at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will then receive family and friends at 3pm and service at 4pm at Five Stones Church in Waxhaw.
