Dr. Hector Manuel Soberon, Sr. 84, of Fort Mill, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026. Born October 5, 1941 in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, he was the son of the late Miguel and Constantina Quintana Soberon. Hector had the heart of a servant. He spent his career taking care of patients in ERs and clinics in Miami, Fl. In his residency trainings in Cuba, he delivered babies and helped severe burn victims through plastic surgery. His bedside manner not only helped his patients recover physically, but mentally as well. In addition to caring for others, Hector enjoyed the outdoors specially going to the beach, gardening, and playing tennis. He loved to play chess since childhood and was an avid player. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Hector is survived by his loving wife, Mercedes Soberon; sister Sonia Soberon; daughter Yelena and Angel Dominguez; son, Hector Soberon, Jr. and his wife, April, of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Also 5 grandchildren Nickolas, Natalie, Madeline, Sophia and Eric. In addition to his parents, Hector was preceded in death by brothers and sister Gladis, Miguel, Roberto, and Rolando . A memorial service will be held at a later date in Miami, Florida. Lord Jesus, we praise and thank you for the life of Dr. Hector M Soberon and welcoming him to eternal rest with you. Please grant his family and friends Your peace that transcends all understanding to guard their hearts and minds. May they feel Your presence as they celebrate Hector's life and the work you gave him to ease the sufferings of others. Thank you Lord Jesus, for your promises and faithfulness to complete the faith you began in Hector your beloved son.
