John Elwood Barbe Jr.

John Elwood Barbe, Jr, 85, of Clover SC passed away Friday, March 20, 2026. Born June 26, 1940 in Ambridge, PA, he was the son of the late John Elwood Barbe Sr and Mary Hideck Barbe. John graduated from Ambridge High School and joined the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged he married his wife of 57 years Gloria Barnett. They had 2 children Janine Huneycutt of Clover, South Carolina and Stephen Barbe of Nashua, New Hampshire.

John was an active member of Memorial United Methodist church (Charlotte, NC). He enjoyed playing cards and softball, watching Steelers football and especially spending time with his grandchildren: Christopher Barbe, Kaley, Austin and Jon Dylan Huneycutt.

John is survived by his children and siblings: Alma Peich (Eli) of Pennsylvania, Harry (Ike) Barbe of Maryland and Phyllis Rowe of New Mexico.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife Gloria, brother Ron Barbe, sister Alice Cordes and nephew John Edward Barbe.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 with Pastor Eric Lanier officiating at Tribute & Tallent Funeral & Cremations, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte, NC.
