Keri Schacht
Jan 11, 1972 — Oct 5, 2026
Keri Schacht, 54, originally from Robinson, Illinois, passed away on October 5, 2026. She will be remembered for her generous heart, vibrant personality, and remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel loved.
Keri had a special way of making people feel like family from the moment they met her. She welcomed others with a warmth that made them feel instantly at home. Thoughtful beyond measure, she often sensed what someone needed or how they were feeling before a word was spoken. A truly gifted gift giver, Keri had a knack for finding just the right thing, making those she loved feel seen, known, and celebrated.
Her kindness was matched by her convictions. Keri was outspoken, passionate, and never afraid to stand up for what she believed was right. She cared deeply for the less fortunate, and her compassion extended to animals of all kinds. There was hardly a stray kitten that crossed her path without finding a helping hand and a loving heart.
Keri had a natural gift for connecting with children. She worked for a time at a preschool, where her caring nature and creativity shone. She also shared her talents and love for animals by helping at her husband James's veterinary clinic.
Creativity was an inseparable part of who Keri was. A talented photographer with an extraordinary eye for beauty, she captured everything from the wonders of nature to the precious moments in the lives of friends, family and her children. Through her photographs, she quietly chronicled years of childhood, growth, and cherished memories, leaving a beautiful record of their lives to look back on. Whether behind a camera, creating something with her hands, or making a space beautiful, Keri had a way of turning the ordinary into something special.
Above all, Keri loved deeply. She was wonderfully outspoken, fiercely protective, endlessly thoughtful, and extraordinarily tender—all qualities that made her unmistakably Keri. She noticed the little things, stood up for those she loved, and made the world around her a little more beautiful.
Keri is survived by her loving husband, James Schacht; her daughter, Leah Schacht, and son, Justin Schacht; her stepsons, JJ Schacht and Reed Schacht; her siblings, Carson Battershell (Tiffany) and John Sweat; her father, Gary Sweat; and her beloved niece and nephews, along with extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gayle Sanders.
A service to celebrate Keri’s life will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 1 pm at Tribute & Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 N Sharon Amity Rd., Charlotte, NC, 28205. The family will receive friends following the service.
