O'bryant De'Brue, Jr

Mar 4, 2010 — Aug 29, 2026

O'Bryant De’Brue Jr., whom we all lovingly knew as Jr., was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Jessica and O'Bryant. At just 16 years old, he was preparing to start his junior year at North Mecklenburg High School, a milestone he was quietly stepping into with his own unique spirit.

Jr. was a sweet and quiet soul. He wasn't always the loudest person in the room, but his presence was felt by everyone who knew and loved him. He loved playing his video games and could spend hours focusing on his next challenge. When he wasn't gaming, he often helped his dad with lawn work, learning the value of hard work while spending time together.

One of Jr.'s favorite roles in life was being the big brother. And like any good big brother, he made sure his sisters knew it. If they got on his nerves, he wasn't afraid to let them hear about it. Looking back, those little disagreements and moments of sibling rivalry are memories that will now bring smiles through the tears. Deep down, his sisters knew how much he loved them, and they loved him right back.

Although our hearts are broken by losing him so soon, we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited in Heaven with his Paw Paw (Ralph), Mamaw (Eloise), Grandma Sondra, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Reece and Cousin Rashad. We can only imagine the welcome he received and the love that surrounded him as he arrived.

Jr. leaves behind countless memories, a family who adored him, and a love that will never fade. We will remember his quiet nature, his gentle heart, his sense of humor, and the special way he made his mark on all our lives. He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed, every single day.

In loving memory of our dear Jr., he is survived by his parents, Jessica and O'Bryant De'Brue; his sisters, Journei and Jersei De'Brue; his Grandmother, Melinda Poe (James Nelson); his Grandfathers, Willie Joe Yeargin and Gilbert Green Jr (wife, Saundra Powell Green); his uncles, Lynell Green, Jordan Poe (Jasmine Bost), and Willie De'Brue (wife, Gina De'Brue); and his aunts, Teshauna De'Brue, Natasha Squires, Damietta Armstead, and Danyelle Lindsay.

He was cherished by many cousins: Autumn, CJ, Brayden, Domon'i (Symir), J'Taiya (KJ), Amir, Kameron, JJ, Max, Malik (Londyn, Kayden) JBoy, Shamauri and Baby Reece.

He is also survived by his God mothers Rachelle Bryan and Shauna Woodus; God father, Eric Chavis, and his God sister, Zaniya; and his God brother, Zaiden.

His warm presence will also be deeply missed by a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins who carry his memory in their hearts.
