Sep 19, 1943 — Sep 21, 2026

Soeun "Sean" Sath, 83, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Born on September 19, 1943 in Kampong Speu, Cambodia, Soeun grew up with a deep appreciation for family and community. Driven by courage and a profound dream to build a better future, he left his homeland and traveled to many countries and learned several languages. He immigrated to the United States in the late 70s and settled in Mobile, Alabama, where he built a life until 2005, before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, which became his home for his remaining years.

Soeun spent many dedicated years working as a crewman for a global supply ship company. He was widely respected on the water for his strong work ethic, steady hands, integrity, sense of humor, and delicious meals he brought to every voyage.

Soeun shared a beautiful, devoted life with his wife, Lang Leng. Together, they built a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, traditional music, and unconditional love. Soeun's greatest pride and joy were his children, Linna Dean and Billy Sath Leng. He taught them the value of hard work, the importance of honoring their heritage, and the beauty of embracing new opportunities.

Outside of his career, Soeun found happiness in simple days. He loved cooking creole and southern cuisines for family and friends, sharing stories of his early days over strong coffee, walking Bella (dog), and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide football. His journey across oceans paved the way for generations to thrive, leaving an enduring legacy of sacrifice, love, and perseverance.

Soeun is survived by his beloved wife, Lang Leng; his loving children, Linna Dean and Billy Sath Leng; He welcomed Benjamin Dean and Becky Leng into the family with open arms and watched his legacy grow through his cherished grandsons, Logan (9), Levi (7), Lawson (4), Braxton (8), and Beckham (3); and many loving nephews and nieces.
