Debra Ann Roberts
May 28, 1957 — Aug 10, 2026
Debra Ann Powell Roberts, of Cleveland, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter on August 10, 2026, at the age of 69. Born in Welch, West Virginia, on May 28, 1957, she was the daughter of the late William and Christine Powell and the granddaughter of the late Dave and Virgie Powell, and Arthur and Elsie Hicks.
Debbie was a lifelong learner and devoted registered nurse who spent more than 30 years caring for others. During her career, she was licensed in three states and found great meaning in her work and in the lives she touched along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sons, Dusty and Ricky.
Debbie is survived by her daughters, Jessica (Mario) Lester of Cleveland, NC, and Tina (Jesse) Greenwall of Princeton, WV; her sisters, Bonnie Hagerman of Statesville, NC, Melissa (Roger) Robinette of Catawba, NC, and Patricia (Albert) Rowe of Cleveland, NC; and her brother, Mark (Carrie) Powell of Statesville, NC. She is also survived by three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Debbie was a member of Southview Baptist Church. Outside of her career and family, she found joy in researching her ancestry, antiquing, opening her home to family and friends, and, of course, John Wayne. She had a deep and abiding love of reading, libraries, and history.
Debbie will be remembered for her unfailing sense of humor, her devotion to family, her love of learning, and the many lives she touched through her years of nursing and friendship. Her memory and laughter will live on in those who knew and loved her.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
