Hyke "Danny" Markarian of Napa California passed away in Napa at his home surrounded by family on August 2, 2024 a day shy of his 95th birthday.
Danny was born in Watertown Massachusetts on August 3rd 1929 to Dan and Akaby Markarian his biological father passed away a few years after he was born and he was raised by his mother Akaby and stepfather Nishan Altoonian. He attended Northridge High School in Whitinsville Massachusetts. After he attended college he became an Engineer .
He worked at Mare Island Naval shipyard in Vallejo California as an engineer for 35 years.
Danny was proud to be full blooded Armenian his parents survived the Armenian genocide and migrated to Massachusetts. He proudly spoke Armenian and told stories of his Armenian heritage.
Danny enjoyed old school Ford Trucks and Cars. He also loved to dance, travel with his wife and always lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor. He was a proud member of the Masons where he remained a member from the age of 22 until his death. Danny was honored with Master Mason Award from his lodge. Danny also enjoyed playing Bridge and was in a Bridge group with friends for many years, He was married to his bride Lucy Markarian and they had 64 beautiful years. Together they shared 3 children 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Danny is survived by his loving wife Lucy Markarian, granddaughters Dominique Markarian and Leann Parmar, Great grandsons Jay Parmar and Kairo Markarian.
Danny was predeceased by his sister Helen Hajian , brother Murad Markarian, and eldest son David Markarian.
