Jason Jesse Brown

Jason (Jesse) Brown was born January 25, 1948 in Meridian, MS and passed away October 10, 2022 in Pasadena, CA. After moving to Cleveland, OH with his family in the early 1950s, Jason attended Collinwood and Glenville high schools & graduated in 1966. He was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after and attended some college. Jason owned small businesses Mercury the Messenger (and JB Express, held numerous sales positions and most recently, worked as a legal consultant. Jason's many interests included studying the Civil Rights Movement and Islam, horse racing, golf and all types of music, jazz being his favorite. He enjoyed coaching his sons & their friends in baseball, basketball and football. Family and friends will always remember Jason as an intelligent man, knowledgeable on many topics.  He was outgoing, had a great sense of humor and was always willing to listen, share wisdom & offer advice. He was affectionately called Jason, Jesse, Coach Brown, Prof. Brown, Dr. Brown or MR. BROWN. Jason was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Fannie Mae Brown, father Jimmy Cole & sister Myrtle Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory dad Calvin Brown, wife of 40 years Gwenyth Yancey-Brown, sons Justin M. & Jamil J. Yancey-Brown, brother-in-law Roy (Chiyoko) Yancey, daughters Sonja (Tony) Johnson, Sherry Brown (mother, Vicky Brown) & Kimberly Brown (mother, Lynn Brown), sisters Norma (Larry) Wagner, Merle Perkins & Carolyn Evans. He also leaves seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins and an abundance of friends.
