Virginia “Gini” Ann Cook-Gonzales

Virginia "Gini" Cook-Gonzales passed away on October 9, 2025, after a very sudden decline in her health. She was born on July 25, 1953, in Modoc County, California, to Calixte (Skip) and Joan Cook.

Gini's kindness, creativity, generosity, strength, and selflessness touched everyone around her. She had a heart that welcomed others without hesitation and a spirit that could fill any room with warmth. She loved going on cruises and camping, cooking for her family and friends, creating beautiful arts and crafts, and spending time in her backyard and watching Andy garden. Gini also enjoyed quiet evenings watching Murder, She Wrote or Murphy Brown , reading a good book, and most of all being surrounded by the people she loved most.

For 23 years, Gini dedicated her time and compassion to the Monterey Family Health Clinic, where she played a vital role in helping it grow into the thriving practice it is today. During her time there, she was deeply loved by both her coworkers and her patients. Her caring spirit extended far beyond her work, leaving a lasting imprint of kindness and warmth on everyone whose life she touched.

Gini was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cathy Bethel.

She is survived and deeply missed by her loving husband, Andrew, and her children: Andrew Gonzales Jr. (Victoria), Michael Gonzales (Carol), and Christopher Pielstick (Taryn).

Gini will be forever cherished and remembered by her seven grandchildren — Alyssa Rawlinson (Alex), Anthony Gonzales (Emily), Samantha Mason (Hailey), Robin Gonzales, Hailey Gonzales, Riley Bryson, and Blake Pielstick — as well as her five great-grandchildren — Elli Mason, Ryan McGowan, Brooke Rawlinson, Savannah McGowan, and Liam Rawlinson.

She is also survived by her sister, Joan Turner, along with several nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Though there will not be a formal service, the family encourages friends and loved ones to celebrate Gini's life in their own way — whether through sharing a favorite memory, listening to a song she loved, or simply taking a quiet moment in her honor.

Gini's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
