Mary Ellen Chisler
Oct 19, 1946 — May 31, 2026
Mary Ellen (Sharpe) Chisler passed away on May 31, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Ellen was born on October 19, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John Sharpe and Grace Sharpe. A devoted and practicing Catholic, she lived her life grounded in faith, compassion, and an extraordinary love for others.
She was united in marriage to William Chisler Jr. in 1969, sharing 50 years of love and partnership until his passing on July 14, 2019. Together they built a family centered on love, loyalty, and togetherness.
Mary Ellen had the biggest heart and was deeply devoted to her family—both the family she was born into and the many she “chose” throughout her life. Her home was always open, and her love extended far beyond traditional boundaries. In her final weeks, more than 50 loved ones visited her in the hospital, and many more came to her home to say goodbye—an incredible testament to how deeply she was loved.
She is survived by her son, William Chisler III (Kijuana); her daughter, Christine Chisler; her son, Femi “Chisler”; her beloved granddaughters; her brother, Larry Sharpe; her sister-in-law; Cindy Sharpe and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Chisler Jr.; her parents, John and Grace Sharpe; her brothers, John Sharpe Jr., Fred Sharpe, and Vincent Sharpe; her niece, Heather Sharpe; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Mary Ellen will be remembered for her boundless love, her kindness, and the way she made everyone feel like family. She loved her children, her grandchildren, and every person fortunate enough to be part of her life. She is already deeply missed.
