Michael Bruce Karn

Jul 2, 1963 — Jun 27, 2026

Michael left this world on Saturday, June 27, 2026, five days shy of his 63rd birthday. Born July 2, 1963 in Madison, WI to Edwin and Lois (Engle) Karn, he grew up in Sheboygan with his three brothers. Michael spent childhood with his siblings playing baseball, camping, and developing his talents in art and music. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and had many notable roles in school plays and musicals. His hometown's mud pies and Sheboygan rolls forever raised his standards for other baked goods.

Michael graduated with an Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota, a time which included a study abroad session in Italy that had a lifelong influence. His incredibly detailed work as an architectural designer and draftsman can be seen in structures and homes throughout the Twin Cities.

Michael cherished being a father above everything, and his son Jackson and daughter Evelyn were endless sources of pride and love.

He was happiest watching his kids' sports, relaxing at the family cabin outside Tomahawk, WI, or staying in his favorite city New Orleans. He loved family, road trips, bike rides, holiday traditions, taking pictures, telling stories, Wisconsin and its sports teams, chicory coffee on weekend mornings, and a good German beer.

In addition to his children, Michael leaves behind his brothers and spouses, Andy (Linda Yamamoto), Tim (Grace Cord), and Matt (Vicky Johnson), his cousin Lee Ann Gauthier (Fernando Peña) and her son Jeff (Miranda Weinberg), his partner Jodi Trotta and her son Aidan Peltzman, his former wife Natasha Melchionne, his aunt Gloria Fritsch, many cousins and friends, and a vast and vastly diverse music collection that he loved to share with others at every opportunity. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt Carol Parker, and other beloved extended family members.

Open houses in his honor will be held in Minneapolis and Wisconsin in late August 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to his children are preferred.
