Katherine Irene Leclair
Jul 15, 1936 — Jun 1, 2026
Katherine Irene Scully was born on July 15, 1936, in Portsmouth, NH, to James and Irene Scully.
She passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, just shy of her 90th Birthday.
She grew up an only child but was surrounded by her double cousins, Bruce, Frank, and Edward, who were more like siblings.
Together they spent many cherished summers at the family beach house, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.
In 1955, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Henriot Leclair. They shared 50 wonderful years of marriage and raised four children together.
As a proud military wife, Kay supported her husband throughout his service in the United States Air Force, living throughout the United States and Germany.
In 1964, they settled in the Yuba-Sutter area while Joseph was stationed at Beale Air Force Base and decided to make Yuba City, CA, their permanent home.
Together they built a life centered on love, devotion, faith, and family.
Kay was a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse before advancing her education to become a Registered Nurse.
She graduated from the first Step-Up nursing class at Yuba College and spent 39 years caring for newborns in the nursery at Fremont Medical Center in Yuba City.
Her compassion, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless families. She found great joy in caring for babies and took immense pride in the profession she loved.
That same spirit of service led her to volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul after her retirement, helping those in need throughout her community.
Above all else, Kay was a devoted mother who lovingly raised four children and later embraced her treasured role as a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She never missed an opportunity to support, encourage, and celebrate her family. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, strength, generosity, and selflessness.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Leclair; parents, James and Irene Scully; aunt and uncle, Francis Woods and Helen Scully; grandson, Kevin Silvestro; and cousins, Bruce, Frank, and Edward Scully.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Greg) Silvestro, Joyce (Gary) Bybee, Jackie (Ray) Jacenich, and Joseph (Cheryl) Leclair; grandchildren, Christopher and Craig Bybee, David, and Sam Silvestro, Jack, Joseph, and Jessica Leclair, and Katherine Jacenich; four great-grandchildren; cousin, Joan Scully; and many other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
A Memorial Mass and reception honoring Kay will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, officiated by Reverend Roland Ramirez.
