Pritam Kaur Heir
Feb 24, 1930 — Mar 26, 2026
Pritam Kaur Heir, February 24, 1930, to March 26, 2026, was a pioneer, trailblazer, and woman of fearless conviction.
Among the first Punjabi women in Yuba City, CA , she broke barriers as the only woman to serve as a Trustee on the Sikh Temple's Executive Committee.
Born in Punjab, and educated beyond her time, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1953, after a remarkable journey across Europe, traveling with the Guru Granth Sahib as her guiding light of faith.
She worked side by side on the farm, drove trucks, ran the family business, and raised five children with strength and grit.
Known for standing her ground, she held an all-night vigil to ensure elders could continue to sit on chairs in the Gurdwara, forever shaping its tradition. Her legacy is one of courage, strength, and unwavering faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sewa Singh Heir; and eldest son, Tarlochan Singh Heir.
She is survived by her loving children, Baldev Heir, Sarinder Thiara, Kummel Heir, and Paulie Chin; a cherished legacy of nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on April 5, 2026, at 11AM at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, followed by Sehaj Path Bhog at Gurdwara Sahib Tierra Buena.
