David Ray Pettit

David Ray Pettit passed away at the Nathan Adelson Care Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 12, 2026; he was 63 years old. David was born in Hamilton, Texas on August 22, 1963, to Aaron L. (Pete) Pettit and Janie (Jones) Pettit.

David graduated from Gorman High School in Gorman, Texas in 1981. He attended Tarleton State University briefly before joining the Air Force where he was eventually stationed in the Philippines for 2 years until he returned to the States and was stationed in Fort Worth, Texas. From Fort Worth he was stationed in California for a little while until the military personnel were offered the Early Retirement Package in the 1990's.

David returned to Texas for a little while and then moved to Henderson, Nevada to be close to his dad in 1997.

David was a hard worker and worked various jobs throughout his life. He believed in helping others and would give someone the shirt off his back and his last dollar to someone who needed it, even if he needed it more. David's last generous gift was to donate his corneas to help two other people see.

David is survived by his sisters Sammye Mauney of Gorman, Texas; Kim Laube of Plainfield, Illinois; Dawn Dorian of Battle Mountain, Nevada; Lori Amos of Comanche, Texas; and Nadeen Dennis of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Brothers Eddie Pettit of Comanche, Texas; Randy Anderson of Tyler, Texas; Mike Pettit of Battle Mountain, Nevada; and Petey Pettit of Sparks, Nevada. David is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents Aaron David Pettit, Myrtle Fisher Cook, Ray and Ellen Jones; his dad, Pete Pettit; his mom, Janie Broom; and a baby sister, Sherry Pettit.
