Eleanor Ruth Hettle, 87, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Fort Collins.

A memorial service honoring Eleanor’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 4, 2026, at Walker Manufacturing Company, 4600 Three Bell Parkway, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Eleanor Ruth Hettle was born on July 27th, 1938 to Alfred Neville and Ruth (Clark) Neville. She was the third of four children and grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings and extended family. She attended Loveland High School, graduating in 1956. During her school years, she enjoyed simple joys such as sock hops, prom, roller-skating, and sleepovers with friends. She especially cherished time spent with her brother, sisters, cousins, and her best friend, Becky. At a young age, Eleanor showed resilience, overcoming a serious illness that required hospitalization before her thirteenth birthday.

She began her working life at the telephone company during a time when operators would answer calls with “Number, please?” and witnessed the transition to dial service. Throughout her life, Eleanor stayed active and industrious, taking on a variety of jobs and always finding fulfillment in staying busy.

At the age of 21, Eleanor married and soon became the devoted mother of three daughters, whom she loved deeply. Though her marriage did not endure, her commitment to her family never wavered. She found joy in an active lifestyle, including playing tennis and traveling.

Eleanor faced challenges throughout her life with strength and determination. Her faith was central to who she was—her priorities rooted in God, family, friends, and maintaining her independence. In her later years, she spoke often of Jesus and remained active in her church community.

Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-8:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”

Sher is survived by her younger sister: Barbara, her three daughters: Tammera (Tammy) Hill, Michele Farnese, and Cindy Olford, 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two on the way.

Eleanor will be remembered for her resilience, her devotion to her loved ones, and her enduring faith.
