Sep 18, 1930 — Sep 19, 2026
Gustave Theodore “Ted” Holland passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving behind a life filled with family, service, education, and adventure.
Ted was born September 18, 1930, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Beatrice Vasey Holland and Gustave Jackson Holland. He grew up during the Great Depression and later served in the Royal Canadian Navy.
Ted earned his Bachelor of Arts in Science from the University of Western Ontario in 1952 and graduated from the Ontario College of Education at the University of Toronto in 1955. Education became an important part of his life, and he was especially proud of opening Zion Heights Junior High School in North York, where he developed the school’s curriculum and served as its principal.
In the 1980s, Ted moved to Sanibel Island, Florida, where he became a Realtor. After retiring, he moved to Hayesville, North Carolina, and later made Fort Collins, Colorado, his home.
Ted loved golf and continued playing until he was 89. He was proud of his independence and enjoyed staying active throughout his life.
Family was at the heart of Ted’s life. He is survived by his children, Catherine Holland and her husband, TJ Flynn; Rebecca Look and her husband, Mike Look; and Mark Holland and his wife, Rachel Holland. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne.
Ted was a grandfather to Rachel Taylor, Dane Taylor, Michael Flynn, Macy Look, Grace Look, Silas Holland, and August Holland, as well as step-grandsons Hunter Look and Patrick Flynn. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Harmony.
Ted will be remembered for his dedication to education, his love of golf, his adventurous spirit, and most of all, the family he loved.
