Ron Bauer
May 2, 1943 — Oct 15, 2026
Ron Bauer, 83, of Fort Collins passed away on October 15, 2026, at Pathways Hospice. Ron was born May 2, 1943, in Bayard, Nebraska to Joe and Lovina Bauer. Ron worked at Great Western Sugar in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in the early 1960’s and then moved to Midwest Farm in 1965. In 1969 he began working for Loos Electric Supply, also in Scottsbluff, and continued working in the electrical wholesale supply business for 51 years, retiring from Winlectric in 2020.
While in Nebraska, Ron was an active member of Jaycee’s and the Moose Lodge where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing, watching football, especially the Cornhuskers, and spending time with his family.
Ron married Linda Rein on August 1, 1965, and they lived in Scottsbluff with their 2 daughters until moving to Fort Collins in August of 1979. Ron was blessed with 3 granddaughters that he relished making Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for.
In his younger years, Ron loved to play and coach softball, he also made an annual trek to Canada for a boys fishing trip (eventually the wives were invited). Ron and Linda were avid hot air ballon chasers for many years. Ron was one of the handiest people you would ever meet. He had a tool for every project and knew a little something about nearly everything. If asked a question he didn’t actually know, he would answer with such authority that we just had to believe him.
Ron is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda. Daughters Trina (Jeff) Caligari of Fort Collins, Annie (Ron) Fregosi of Windsor, granddaughters Hillary & Alayna Caligari and Alexis Fregosi, sister Jane Gable of Gering, Nebraska, brother Virgil Bauer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harvey.
Ron was wise man, he was selfless and had a kind heart. He will be missed by everyone that ever met him but especially by his family. We are better for having him in our lives.
He was never one to be the center of attention and requested everyone remember him in their own way in place of a service.
