Deborah (Debbie) Lynn VanValkenburg
Jun 7, 1957 — Aug 14, 2026
Deborah (Debbie) Lynn VanValkenburg earned her angel wings on August 14, 2026, at Medical Center of the Rockies, surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years young.
Debbie was born on June 7, 1957, to Zelda and Jerry McAdow and was raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended school in Evergreen before moving to Fort Collins, where she graduated from Poudre High School in 1975. In high school, she was an avid participant in FFA and competed in barrel racing at high school rodeos. She also won Grand Champion with her steer in 4-H.
Debbie met Richard VanValkenburg in high school, and they were blessed to spend 49 wonderful years together. They raised two daughters, Candie and Carrie, with love. Debbie managed to own and operate a successful business and yet always be there for her girls. Her kitchen was always open to their friends, and she happily joined in the fun. She instilled a strong work ethic in her daughters, encouraged them in everything they did, and was their biggest confidant. They will deeply miss their multiple daily phone calls.
During their younger years, Debbie and Richard moved around before eventually settling on their forever farm in Wellington, Colorado. Some of their best memories were made while spending time with family, camping, fishing, and working together on the farm. Debbie loved spending evenings on the back porch, watching the sunset with the love of her life. Her family will always remember her there.
In later years, Debbie attended River of Life Church with her family. She had always known Jesus, but she especially enjoyed growing in her faith and studying the Word. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now walking with the Lord.
Debbie loved teaching her grandchildren about 4-H and helping them with their livestock projects. She took great pride in sharing her knowledge and loved telling everyone about the children’s accomplishments.
Debbie was a natural storyteller who could turn even the simplest moment into a cherished memory. She loved sharing stories, making people laugh, and adding her own playful twist to every conversation. With her quick wit and mischievous sense of humor, she had a special gift for bringing joy to those around her. Her stories, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her kindness, wisdom, faith, and love for others touched the lives of so many.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard; her two beautiful daughters, Candie (Shane) and Carrie (John); five grandchildren, Ashlyn, Garett, Austin, Grace, and Bailey; and one great-grandson, Mayson.
Debbie will be missed tremendously. Her contagious laugh will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life for Debbie will be held at RV World in Nunn, Colorado, on September 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
