Alden Keith Held

April 5, 1937 — May 8, 2026

Alden Keith Held, 89, of Loveland, Colorado, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven on May 8, 2026. Alden was born on April 5, 1937, to Henry and Leona Held in Windsor, Colorado. He was baptized on June 6, 1937, at St. John’s Church in Windsor. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Meeker Jr. High in Greeley, CO. He graduated from 8th grade at Trinity Lutheran School in Greeley. He was confirmed in May 1951.

Graduating from Greeley High School in 1955, Alden went on to attend Colorado State University for 2 years before joining the US Army. He completed an 11-week basic electronics course on Oct. 8, 1959, in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. He trained to repair guided missile equipment. He was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama (a missile base). In January of 1961 he transferred to Ft. Bliss, Texas. In August 1965 Alden received an honorable discharge from the US Army as Private First Class.

After serving active duty, he moved to San Francisco, California, where he worked at Hewlett-Packard (HP). Moving to Palo Alto, CA, he continued working at HP from 1961-63. He requested a transfer to HP in Loveland, CO. He married Lauralee McGinnis (Weiss) in 1963. He was transferred to HP in Ft. Collins and worked there for 6 years as a supervisor in Quality Assurance and Customer Support. One of Al’s most precious gifts from God was his ability to share the Gospel with his coworkers and guide them to Jesus.

After 25 years, Alden retired from HP and went to work for a construction company in Loveland. He then moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he attended Laramie County Community College for 1 year, earning a degree in Building Trades. He graduated with honors in August 1986. In 1987 Alden moved to Post Falls, Idaho, where he married Bonnie Jean (Burgdorff) Maple. They moved to Rathdrum, Idaho. They lived in Idaho for 28 years. After Bonnie entered her heavenly home in November 2015, Alden moved back to Loveland, CO, to be near family.

Alden enjoyed hunting, working on cars and tractors, farming, and fishing. He could often be found helping a neighbor or friend in need. As much as he enjoyed fishing, he believed being a fisher of people was even more important (Matthew 4:19). Alden was a faithful believer in God and in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed his love for the Lord on to his family.

Alden was predeceased by his parents Henry and Leona Held, son Vaughn Held, his first wife Lauralee Held Watnemoe, grandson Peter Hochmuth and wife Bonnie Held.

Alden is survived by his five children, Debbie (Ron) Adam of Loveland, CO; Mary (David) Hochmuth of Watertown, WI; Marcy (Tom) Ibsen of Parker, CO; Dan (Samantha) Maple of Sutton, AK; Ryan (Amanda) Maple of Windsor, CO. Grandchildren Kimberly (Jesse) Bean, Ashley (Nicholas) Ray, Esther (Michael) Martens, Sarah (Peter) Gilbert, Andrew Hochmuth, Christian, Dane, and Emily Ibsen, Casey and Chris Maple, Grace and Elina Maple and 8 great grandchildren.
