Annie Montoya
Jul 26, 1931 — Mar 11, 2026
Annie Montoya was born on July 26, 1931 in Torrington, Wyoming to Urbano Soto and Cleotilde Chavez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Vidal Montoya; their daughter, Debra Flora Montoya; and her siblings, Manual Soto, Miguel Soto, Rafael Soto, Antonia Gonzalez, Julian Soto, and Mary Chacon.
She married Victor on June 13, 1955, in Platteville, Colorado. Together they had four children: Victor Michael Montoya, Debra Flora Antonia Montoya, Ronald Anthony Montoya, and Lisa Ann Tobar. They raised their family in Platteville, Colorado; Simi Valley, California; Delta, Colorado; and Longmont, Colorado.
After retiring from a 25-year career in the childcare field, she cherished the time she was able to spend at home with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—the true light of her life. She loved watching them grow, offering warm hugs, listening to their stories, and being the wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother they adored.
She had a special way of making everyone feel important and loved. With a sneaky sense of humor, she was often found laughing so hard that tears filled her eyes—laughter that was contagious and quickly spread to everyone around her.
Annie passed away on March 11, 2026, while being held by her son, Ronald Montoya.
She is survived by her children: Victor Montoya (Mandi); Ronald Montoya (Connie); and Lisa Tobar (Larry).
She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Cassandra Stenka (Justin), Martin Montoya (Chante), Alicia Hutton (Taylor), Janie Montoya, Angelo Torrez (Carissa), Jordan Camara Montoya, Dani Mundell, Alyssa Guzman (Hector), Travis Montoya, Madison Montoya, and Joevon Montoya (Savannah); and 19 great-grandchildren: Logan Stenka, Rina Stenka, Martin Montoya, Oliver Montoya, Gideon Montoya, Lilly Hutton, Tillman Hutton, Lacey Hutton, Everly Hutton, Hovi Martinez, Nevis Torrez, Sevin Torrez, Madden Mundell, Taven Mundell, Callisto Guzman, Lucianna Guzman, Quetzalli Guzman, James Montoya, and Calaya Montoya.
