Carmen Aurora Travis
Jun 2, 1937 — Jul 30, 2026
Carmen Aurora Travis passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 30, 2026, in Loveland, Colorado. She was 89 years old. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Born Carmen Minjares on June 2, 1937, in Sidney, Montana, she grew up as the only child of Anita Minjares, surrounded by a large extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1955. While attending nursing school in Billings, Montana she met Lloyd Travis through his sister, Nellie. Carmen and Lloyd married six months later in Sidney and began a life full of adventure and family.
Their first child, Michael, was born in Gallup, New Mexico. The family later moved to Billings, where Steven, Greg, and Jeff were born. Over the years, Carmen and Lloyd lived in many places, including Dickinson, North Dakota; Belgrade and Bozeman, Montana; Fairbanks, Alaska; Akron, Colorado; and Idaho Falls, Idaho. After their sons were grown, they continued their travels, living in Anchorage, Alaska; Cedar City, Utah; Winnemucca and Reno, Nevada; Nyssa, Oregon; and Kalispell and Lakeside, Montana. After Lloyd’s passing in 2003, Carmen lived briefly in Kalispell before settling in Loveland, Colorado, to be near Steven and his family.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd David Travis, and her grandson, Brant Marvin Michael Travis.
She is survived by her four sons: Michael (Barby), Steven (Vickie), Greg (Carolyn), and Jeff (Kristin); her grandchildren Natalie (Eric) Stratton, Morgan (Christina) Travis, Jessie (Sarah) Travis, Tyler (Madeline) Travis, Parker Travis, Craig (Johnette) Irving, Patrick Irving, Ashley Travis, and Makayla (Sky) Attebery; and her great‑grandchildren Logan, Riley, Nolan, Nora, Joey, Evie, Elisa, and Willow.
Carmen was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Per her wishes, no service or visitation is planned.
