Daniel C. Flanscha

Daniel C. Flanscha, 62, of Loveland, Colorado, was called to his Heavenly home to Jesus on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Daniel Craig Flanscha was born September 30, 1963, in Springfield, Illinois, to Rev. Marvin and Joyce (Albers) Flanscha. He graduated from West Marshall High School in State Center, Iowa in 1981. Dan went on to attend Iowa State University, earning a degree in Agricultural Education in 1985. After a brief stint working on a chartered fishing boat and at a dairy farm in Alaska, Dan returned home to Iowa where he was introduced, by his father, to who would quickly become the love of his life, Janelle Woodward. He and Janelle married in 1987 and welcomed their first son Jesse in 1991. In 1993, second son Lucas came along, followed by son Stephen in 1996, and lastly by son Benjamin in 1999.

Dan began a successful career as a representative for Aid Association for Lutherans, caring for the financial needs of Lutherans in Western Iowa. In 1995, he became an assistant general agent and the family moved to Loveland. He was promoted to general agent in Ohio and the family moved to the Toledo area in 2000. Then he took over an agency in Normal, Illinois and designed and helped build a unique family home there. In 2006, the family moved back to Loveland, where Dan started his own firm – Longs Peak Financial.

Through all of this, Dan fiercely and courageously battled cancer. For over two decades, Dan persistently fought the disease, living his life to the fullest extent possible, taking trips to visit family, reading hundreds of books about insurance and finance, studying God’s Word and growing spiritually, collecting postcards from every new destination, cheering on the Broncos and the Vikings, and walking hand-in-hand through life with Janelle.

In addition to running Longs Peak Financial and Longs Peak Education, Dan taught professional education courses at Denver University and through the American College on numerous financial and tax topics. He worked vigorously, sharing his wealth of knowledge on financial planning in his writing, in classrooms, on the radio, on podcasts, and with many families.

Dan was a dreamer; an artist of the mind who brought his imagination to life in his architecture, his beloved Trans-Am, his endless ideas on how to best fix something that needed repair (or that didn’t!), and for his family.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Janelle; sons: Jesse, Lucas (Holly), Stephen, and Benjamin (Krystle); granddaughters: Ruth and Miriam; parents: Rev. Marvin and Joyce; brother: Andrew (Ally); sisters: Rachel (Sam) Sommerer and Janace (Andy) Maynard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends. Dan was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Calvin and Harriet Woodward.

Dan will be remembered by all as the strong and courageous leader he was for his boys, the loving husband he was to Janelle, a leader in his church, and a trusted advisor.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11:00am at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church 3411 S Taft Ave. Loveland, CO 80537. Please feel free to drive your favorite classic car in Dan’s honor.
