David Bruce Halbert

July 17, 1941 — September 30, 2025

David Bruce Halbert, born on July 17, 1941, in Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was the beloved husband of Donna Halbert and a cherished father to his children, Brent (June) Halbert and Kendall (Jason) Payne. Additionally, he embraced the role of stepfather to Britta (Rustin) Hughes and Stacey (Matt) Swerer, and proudly took on the title of grandfather to Raleigh Halbert, Helena Guynn, Halle Hughes, Rachel Schainost and Bobby Swerer. David is also remembered by his sisters, Susan (Clive) Hotson and Sarah (Bob) Johnson.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, David earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1964. He began his professional journey at Kodak in Rochester, New York, before moving on to Hewlett Packard in Colorado, where he dedicated 30 years of his career until retirement in 1999.

David was known for his intelligence, friendly and generous spirit. His kindness was felt by all who knew him; he was always willing to lend a hand or share his expertise. He had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, sailing, shooting, archery, windsurfing, camping, hiking, and gardening. He maintained the dock for his HOA for many years.  His passion for life was evident. 

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Thursday, October 9th at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish, located at 1730 W. 12th Street in Loveland.  Reception and lunch to follow.

David Bruce Halbert leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and an enduring commitment to family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
