Donna Mae Colhour (Sames) passed into eternal life on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 93.
Donna was born September 19, 1932, in Jordan, Minnesota, the daughter of Mathew and Caroline Sames. As a middle child, she grew up with an older sister, Georgia, and a younger brother, Eugene. She graduated high school in Worthington, MN, and worked for a dentist. She moved to Denver in 1953 where she met Robert Colhour at a dance. They were married in 1955 and eight years later, made their home in Loveland, Colorado, where they raised three children: Melanie Lynn, Mark Robert, and David Paul.
Donna is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, her daughter, Melanie, her sister, Georgia, and her brother, Eugene.
Donna is survived by her two sons, Mark and David; two grandchildren, Heather Wilhelm (Brian) of Berthoud and Robert Quick (Jaycie) of Loveland; and three great-grandchildren.
Donna was a gifted and passionate artist whose talent left a lasting mark on all who knew her work. She was best known for her oil paintings capturing the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Rocky Mountains, of which she sold more than 2,400 works over the course of her life. Her creativity extended beyond the canvas. She also developed her own charming line of clothespin dolls, a testament to her boundless imagination and skilled hands. She loved eating chocolate, playing cards, reading novels and watching the Broncos.
A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland on June 5th at 11:00a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or to Pathways Hospice . Services are provided by Viegut Funeral Home.
